Big expt at Cuatro Cienegas up and running

(posted by Jim)   After a lot of hard work, the enrichment experiment at Lagunitas (aka Jim’s Pond) in Churince is off and running.  On the first day we met the welders for them to finish the job.  Then we cleaned off the frames and primed them.  The next day we painted them a cool combination of green and blue (nice choices, Laura!).  Then the next day we moved the frames onto the pond.  Then we made the 20 clear plastic mesocosms and inserted them in sets of four into the sediments (this was by far the easiest part!).  Once things settled down, we added the N and P to the various treatments and have been checking the chemistry.  A lot of work!  Muchas gracias to everyone:  Laura, Jess, Amisha, Bryce, Gaby, Karla and the big crew from UNAM.  Couldn’t have done it without you all!
